Campus Chapters
Campus Chapters
The IHF currently supports active campus chapters at Haverford College, Brown University, and Tufts University and is actively expanding.
Chapters provide the legwork and heavy lifting that we need to meet our partners' goals. Each chapter organizes according to the administrative requirements of its host institution. The IHF then links the chapter with a partner abroad and supports the partnership as it grows and adapts according to local needs.
Why do we work with chapters?
We work with chapters because we believe that we are stronger together than we are apart. We believe that when students enter humbly into collaborative relationships with communities in the Global South, it can empower the partner community to achieve its own goals, and it can offer the students tremendous opportunities for cultural and intellectual growth. College students have the enthusiasm, dedication and resources that are essential to foster strong partnerships that enable partner communities to more fully realize their goals.
How do we work with chapters?
We work with chapters in a collaborative way that provides the support and encouragement they need to form strong partnerships with our partner communities. The IHF Central Office works with chapter members and leaders to strengthen the many skills they bring to their partnerships and to cultivate new ones so that chapters can effectively manage partnerships and implement projects. All our work with chapters aims to foster an awareness of the power dynamics involved in international development work and to encourage truly collaborative partnerships.
The IHF also has active student volunteers at:
Auburn University
Columbia University
Cornell Law School
The New School
Stanford University
Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College
UC San Diego
Yale University
