Hermanos por la Salud (Brothers for Health) partners with the IHF on community development in rural Nicaragua. Projects include health and sanitation, education, and micro-enterprise.
Over the last year, Hermanos por la Salud (HPS) has experienced exciting growth that is making a concrete impact in the partner communities of Negrowas and Mongallo, Nicaragua. The ‘Sabetino’ school project (an intensive, Saturday-only secondary school) has entered its second year. It now serves over 200 students in three grades. Due to its success, the process of planning a permanent Sabetino school in Mongallo, complete with all six secondary grade-levels, has begun. Individual community-members, local organizations, and the local and national governments are all contributing to the project. In another encouraging development, the Japanese government has committed funds to support construction of a clean-water distribution system facilitated by HPS. Construction will begin this year.
